Feminine + Floral + Abstract Forms

Suz’s work/life pendulum is always swinging between creativity and compassion. As an artist she has a passion for watercolor like textures and feminine forms. Her aim is to create work that feels embracing and captures a glimpse of the subject's true essence. She is trained in psychology and interior design and loves creating safe, communal spaces that encourage rest, healing and connection. Retreat Day is an intentional community she is helping cultivate that inspires people to tend to their self and soul care.

Over the past couple years, she has studied Ayurveda, an ancient Indian wisdom tradition that is intrinsically connected to seasonal living. She is an Ayurveda wellness coach, and is in her second year of studying at The Shakti School. The emphasis on wholeness & letting nature inspire our daily rhythms is what drew her to this wellness system.

Working from her home studio in Los Angeles, her rose garden serves as inspiration, the slow and organic rhythm and seasonality of the plants inform her artistic practice. She focuses on organic shapes, skin like textures and color gradients. She employs mixed media to watercolor techniques, on paper and linen canvas. She loves the way the linen feels natural, untouched, and connected to the earth. In figurative work she seeks to create a reflection of an individual’s interior landscape. She sees a deep connection between floral and feminine forms. Her abstract work is inspired by many things from garden sunsets, to dance, to travel. She uses color and shapes to express feelings and movement. This work is intuitive and emotive for her.

“The guiding principle of my work is capturing essence. Essence is Divine beauty in all things. I love any art form or healing modality that draws true essence and authenticity forward.”  ~ Suz

Suz lives in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles with her husband Troy and their two kids. She has been married for 20 years.
